Review: FlyLady’s Feather Duster
March 2, 2008 | Written by: Connie Brooks
We’re big fans of the FlyLady ’round here, so you know I had to try her feather duster when I saw it advertised.
Why I needed this:
I hate to clean. I mean I really hate to clean. If it wasn’t for my daughter, it would probably be pretty nasty around my house. I especially hate to dust…SO, when I saw this duster, and read some of the testimonials from other Flybabies, I thought,
“Well, what can it hurt? Anything that makes dusting less of a chore would definitely be worth the money.”
So I took the plunge and ordered it. It actually arrived quickly (Yay postal service!) but it didn’t look like much when I unpacked it. Then I remembered that Flylady has instructions for “plumping it up” on her site so I tried that and voila! It worked. I had a beautiful duster to run around my house with.
Skeptical I might be, but I dove right on in anyway. And you know what? It really did work as advertised. I dusted my entire house in under 10 minutes and almost had fun doing it. It is by far the most painless method of dusting I have found (and that is saying a lot, for me). A severe case of allergies never really convinced me to dust, but somehow, the fluffy duster with the beautiful purple feathers did the trick.
I’m not going to say it made me into a domestic goddess, but it did make me feel good. The feeling of accomplishment I got from actually dusting all the surfaces in my house made me feel even better.
Since then, my house has been cleaner, we are sneezing less, and I don’t have to worry about certain family members showing up with white gloves! Ok, so they don’t actually show up wearing gloves, but they usually pack an attitude, and it’s a relief not to have to worry anymore because our house even smells fresher.
I will also say that while this duster cost more than I will ever usually spend on a dusting product ($14.95 + shipping). I think that I have probably saved a small fortune in pledge, rags, paper towels and other assorted junk that I hated to use and no longer have to buy. In fact, it has it’s own “place of honor” in my laundry room, and I won’t be de-cluttering it any time soon.
